My father—late Veerappa Dhummi, was a smallpox vaccinator. His duty was to vaccinate every newborn child of Santhebennur (the place of my birth in Davangere district, Karnataka state, India) and the surrounding villages.

When, I was a boy of 9/ 10 years old, sometimes, I used to accompany him bare-footedly to the nearby villages while on his duty to vaccinate the newborn children. Tears running down spontaneously on the cheeks of those tender babies and their emotionally connected nervous mothers reflexively while being vaccinated was not a very uncommon sight! After the vaccination, my father used to jot down the date, names of the children, parents and village etc., in a notebook. After returning home, sometimes, he was asking me to transfer those details from his notebook into a wide mandatory government’s ledger, he had to maintain. While entering details of the vaccinated children into that government's huge ledger, I didn’t have even a faintest inkling, one day, I would be finding a robust sustainable solution to all kinds of respiratory viral pandemics/ diseases (RVP/ Ds) like Spanish Flu, Covid, common colds, flus etc., which are always on the course of mutation and making the vaccines ineffectual unlike the smallpox viruses which do not mutate.
